Concert Announcements

Big news for Western New York music fans have come out consistently this week.

Janet Jackson will be performing at Keybank Center on July 21st, Backstreet Boys announced that their DNA tour will be stopping at Darien Center on July 25th, Deftones will be bringing their signature sound with Gojira and Poppy just a few hours to the north of Buffalo in Toronto on August 17th, and last but certainly not least: Rage Against the Machine have finally announced a North American reunion tour with acclaimed hip-hop duo Run the Jewels co-headlining with a triumphant stop at the Keybank Center on July 27th.

Rage Against the Machine is a huge deal for fans of the band, myself included, as their reunion in 2019 seemed to only reach as far as prestige music festivals. Upon further research, I found that the last time the band performed in Buffalo was all the way back in 1992 following their debut album release. A full 28 year difference obviously won’t affect the younger fans, but I would definitely expect middle-aged men to be taking up a good majority of Keybank Center (my father included).

Their co-headliners Run the Jewels have also been experiencing their share of love with each of their three albums released so far receiving the “Universal Acclaim” badge on Metacritic. 2020 makes for an eventful year for the duo with this unbelievably hyped tour, as well as their anticipated fourth album being slated for release later this year.

There’s a little something for everyone in the world of concerts this summer with the light pop stylings of Janet Jackson and Backstreet Boys serving as a great solution for those seeking the feel-good hits of the summer. Deftones, Gojira, Poppy, Rage Against the Machine, and Run the Jewels on the other hand will provide heavy rock fans with performances that they have been waiting YEARS to experience in Buffalo and its surrounding areas.
