Tim and Eric Mandatory Attendance Tour Review

As any fan of Tim and Eric (and [adult swim] in general) knows, the comedy style of the brilliant Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim is subversive to say the least. Ever since their mid 2000s debut on the [adult swim] network with shows like Tom Goes to the Mayor and Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, Tim and Eric have achieved unbelievable cult status with their fans.

As a huge fan of the comedy duo, the announcement of the Mandatory Attendance Tour filled me with absolute glee to say the least. The closest venue? Toronto. The date? February. Excitement level? Off the damn charts. The gang: Ryan Blatto, Kyle Licht, and yours truly. We set out on our adventure at 3 pm, Buffalo to Toronto.

Enough about the context of the trip, how was the event Matt? Well I’m getting there. We wait outside the Danforth Music Hall in 20 degree fahrenheit weather for about 44 minutes. Doors open at 8:30? Yeah, okaaay. Anyway, let’s skip forward a few minutes. We are seated four rows from the legends themselves.

Tim and Eric put everything out there for this show, sometimes more than I would have liked such as the case where the audience was treated to Tim Heidecker’s ass post-colonoscopy. One of the biggest fan favorite sketches from recent years, Tim’s Kitchen Tips, even got a revival with a live performance. The catch? Unsuspecting members of the crowd were picked at random to portray Tim’s spices. Absurd comedy and improv at their finest.

To keep this blog post short and sweet, I need to wrap this all up. Seeing this show meant a lot to me, both for nostalgia and pure hilarity, and I’m glad so many messed up people were able to enjoy the show and meet more like-minded people. My review of the event: an unquestionable 10/10!
